Sand Beach & The Beehive, Acadia National Park

Sand Beach is a pretty cool feature being that most of the shoreline in the Acadia area is fairly rugged. If you wanna soak up some rays and brave the cold water be ready to battle for personal space on the beach especially in the Summer. Sand Beach is equipped with bathroom and changing facilities if you plan on making it a day trip. There are also hiking trails that fork off the parking area to other vistas. We decided to take advantage of The Beehive hike which is just north of the Sand Beach parking lot.

If you are up for a challenge, The Beehive trail offers an extraordinary bird’s eye view of the Sand Beach area. The hike up The Beehive can be intimidating if you are a beginning hiker. Steep drop-offs and climbing up steel bars sets the tone for your trip to the summit. If you take your time and enjoy the hike, the round-trip experience can be done in an hour or more.
