Diabetes Cured in Mice

Toronto researchers have successfully cured type-1 diabetes in mice “overnight”. Defective nerve endings in the pancreas could perhaps be the culprit of triggering the disease. “Defective nerve endings may attract immune system proteins that mistakenly attack the pancreas, destroying its ability to make insulin, the researchers said. This destruction is what causes diabetes.” The mice were cured by injecting a piece of protein or peptide to immediately reverse the disease, making this a very hopeful way of creating a drug to cure human diabetes.
