Cedar Creek Kayaking – Congaree National Park

There are two canoe and kayak drop off points on Cedar Creek, both of which are outside the park entrance. Heading south beyond the park entrance will take you to the south drop off point. It’s important to check with the park service on the water levels in the creek to make sure it’s high enough to clear most stumps and debris. The creek was around 3 feet high when I launched the kayak, which was a good level, though I did hit a few stumps. The park does offer its own free guided canoe tours of Cedar Creek or you can bring your own. The park does not rent any equipment, so you will have to find equipment outside the park near Columbia. We elected to go with Adventure Carolina. The guys were awesome and hooked me up with a great kayak and helped me mount it on the car at a good price.
