The Cathedral Rock trail head is easily accessible from Back O’Beyond Road just off Highway 179 out of Sedona, Arizona. This particular hike tends to get crowded unless you get there at sunrise. Even then, there were a couple of cars in the parking lot. Cathedral Rock is considered a strenuous climb to the summit. Halfway up the hike, slick rocks and little grip make it a challenge. Grippy shoes are a necessity! The views from the top are amazing offering 360 degree views of the Sedona and Verde Valley area.
