Day 2: Grand Canyon
Sunday, September 17th, 2006What an experience! Arizona has to be one of the cleanest and most beautiful states in America. I cannot put into words or pictures the magnificence of what I have seen today, although the pictures are pretty amazing I must say. We got up around 6am and left around 7am and headed north on I-17 to Flagstaff. The views from just that portion of the trip were amazing and we hadn’t even gotten to the Grand Canyon. The landscape changed so many times as well as the temperature. It was close to 97 today in Phoenix and when we arrived to the South Rim of the Canyon, it was around mid 60’s. I’m glad I brought a long sleeve shirt along. We stopped at almost every viewing area along the South Rim and even did a little climbing here and there. As we neared the East entrance to the Grand Canyon, we turned around and went back to book ourselves a last minute helicopter tour of the Canyon. It lasted about 30 minutes and was worth every penny! You really cannot perceive the size of the Grand Canyon unless you do the helicopter tour. It truly puts it in perspective. After we finished, we went back to the East entrance and entered the Painted Desert, which was absolutely awesome. Anyway, enough rambling. It is late and I need to head to bed. Of course the pictures are uploaded and below are a few videos I shot with my digital camera. Ahight den.
