Don’t Order These

Unless you want to belch all night long. I guess my last memory of eating Chick-fila Chicken Strips eluded me when I pulled up to the drive-thru last night. I sipped on Target brand anti acid all evening and somehow the little fellas kept coming at me. Maybe I’ll quit tasting them by the time I open my peepers tomorrow. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Ted’s Montana Grill

Friday, February 16th, 2007

We visited Ted’s Montana Grill on Super Bowl Sunday for a late dinner. Ted’s is located outside the mall @ Triangle Town Center. It’s near Champps and the Twisted Fork. Justine and I both found this restaurant fairly unusual. For starters, the host - well let’s just say he was a little over-the-top when reading the entire menu aloud to us while we just sit and stare at one another amid taking in the nice aroma from his BO. What appetite I had was diminished a bit. The place was clean though, decorated in a funny manner with a huge Buffalo head hanging on the wall. The booths were nice and secluded from each other with a nice coat hanger on the outside of them. It definitely had the wild west feel to the place going for it, but it also had the deserted truck stop feel as well while receiving the “are you new in town?” look.

Stonewood Grill & Tavern

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Justine and I had the pleasure of going to Stonewood Grill & Tavern for Valentine’s Day. We went to the one at Falls Village on Falls of the Neuse Road in Raleigh. I had seen the restaurant before but I did not realize it was such a nice restaurant until we were seated. It had the typical American menu, but more upscale than the average dining experience. Casual clothes were certainly commonplace there. We both started out with a tasty salad and some sourdough bread. Justine ordered Mahi Mahi with rice and a variety of veggies. I chose to have the 10oz sirloin with a baked potato and veggies. My steak was perfect! Justine managed to talk me into trying some of her Mahi Mahi. Can you say barfo-rama? I’m glad she enjoyed it, but it just wasn’t for me. I’m not much for eating seafood anyway. The service was great. We both can attest that our glasses were never empty. The prices weren’t bad and I had expected to pay that much for a good meal. All in all it was a great time and tasty food. I recommend it if you have run out of places to dine.

Firebirds Rocky Mountain Grill

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

I have eaten at Firebirds Rocky Mountain Grill on three different occasions and have been pleased on every visit. The theme of the restaurant is an outdoorsy/woods type atmosphere with low lighting and the smell of smoked wood in the air. It’s one of those restaurants where you can smell the food when you get out of the car. The particular one I visited is located at North Hills in Raleigh just off of Six Forks Road. Usually there is a bit of a wait unless you make reservations (which I recommend). It is a somewhat casual to dressy dining experience. I probably wouldn’t wear a t-shirt and flip flops there. The food is great and has that smoked wood taste. I had chicken breast the first time I visited and the last two times that I’ve been I’ve ordered Chicken Pasta Chile Asiago with cream sauce, applewood-smoked bacon, green onions and tomatoes. The latter is my favorite for sure and they really give you a nice helping of food as well. The service is fine, nothing too outstanding, but the food and atmosphere make up for it. If you’re looking to go somewhere nice to eat, I definitely recommend it.
