Loving My Macbook

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I have been transformed. I said for years that I had no reason to stop using my PC since the software differences were so insignificant that it would be pointless to shell out the money for an Apple. Then one day I woke up and there was Windows Vista. I read all the negative reviews about how buggy and unstable Vista appeared to be. I knew that one day Windows XP would no longer be supported. That definitely seemed to be the catalyst to get me to visit the refurbished Mac store. Now a month after receiving my Mac I couldn’t be happier about the transition from Windows to Leopard. I highly recommend it to anyone that spends a lot of time on a computer especially for business purposes.

D-Fence Fence Installation

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

If you are wanting a nice quality fence installed for your backyard or on your property lines consider D-Fence. It’s a one-man company based in Fuquay-Varina, NC. I was referred to D-Fence through a Craigslist posting I made in the “Wanted” section. He gave me the cheapest estimate and a very quick turnaround and believe it or not, he actually wanted to work! I don’t mind writing a check for someone who does great work and is punctual. Give him a call: (919) 753-7711

Here is a picture of the fence he built for me: http://flickr.com/photos/jaymeblackmon/1388637137/in/set-1748189/

Finally Some Grass

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

I spent the first part of my day on Saturday putting down some sod in the backyard. Mom and Dad went to pick it up on Friday afternoon at D&G Farms in Angier. Luckily we had about 20 inches of rain that night so it soaked the ground nicely. Anyway, with the help of Woody, Jennifer, Dad and Mom (well Mom was there for moral support, but she gave me wata) we had it finished by 10:30am. I think it turned out pretty nice and well worth the money for some instant results. Uncle Billy told me, “It looks good, but next summer it’ll be dead”. Nothing like some good ole Reaves optimism. He could be right, but at least I’ll get a year’s worth of enjoyment.

Work at Home Opportunities

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

I’ve always been beat up by my family about how I worked at home for 5 years and how I had it made. I could probably argue that point, although the sleeping until 11am was certainly nice. Nonetheless, consumer advocate Clark Howard has listed a few “work at home” opportunities on his website and I decided to list them here. He supposedly did the background checks on the these companies and they are safe to work with. It’s a good idea to check these out thoroughly yourself before getting involved:

alpineaccess.com
virtual call center provider using home-based customer service agents

intellicare.com
call center company that provides clinical and non-clinical telephone services to health plans, healthcare providers, and care managers nationwide

liveops.com
virtual call center using remote and home-based agents. Requires $30 fee for background check

workathomeagent.com
be an “at-home-agent” after getting certified

workingsolutions.com
be a home-based customer service agent
