Secret to Making Your Razor Last Longer

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Are you sick of buying over-priced razor blades every month? You can increase the life of your razor easily. I’m not talking about one or two weeks longer - you can make one razor last 6 months to a year. There’s absolutely no catch to this method. Here’s the secret:

When people shave in the shower as I do, moisture is left on the blade. Using a razor doesn’t cause the blade to dull. Water and sediment left to dry on the blade causes it to degrade. Use a hair dryer to blow the water off the razor. If you really want to get more miles out of it, use a toothbrush to wipe the sediments off the blade after you blow dry it.

If you have tried this and would like to share your experience, leave a comment and tell me how it worked for you.

Support the Fair Tax Fred

Fred Thompson 08

It’s a huge surprise to me that Republicans aren’t embracing the Fair Tax Plan. They desperately need a catalyst to bring conservatives and moderates out of the wood work. True conservatives have no motivation to get out to vote in 2008, unless Hillary is nominated. While that is a good reason to rile the conservative base, the Republicans need something to run on like the Fair Tax Plan and/or securing our borders. Many Americans are uninformed when it comes to a national sales tax plan and how it takes the power away from the politicians and puts it in the hands of the people. Mike Huckabee is the only Republican candidate representing the Fair Tax. While he is shaking up the polls some in Iowa, I don’t think he can secure the nomination because of his lack of name recognition. Fred Thompson, after getting off to an awfully slow start could turn things around if he would endorse the Fair Tax. He is a Reagan conservative that supports border control with a great following considering his late entry into the race. Come on Fred, support the Fair Tax and get your campaign rolling.

Avoid Check Washing

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Many of you are still writing checks (out of your check book) to pay your various bills. Ironically this is becoming even more risky than paying your bills online. Check washing is still a common criminal activity. Basically criminals find checks that have been placed in people’s home mailboxes. It’s literally a “red flag” for them to target your mailbox when they see it raised, signaling to them that a check is in the mail. They can easily wash off the payee information. There are a few ways to deter such activity.

  • If you haven’t already, start paying your bills online! For most people, their banks offer bill pay online for free. Basically you tell the bank to write a check for you to the desired payee. The bank then sends out the check to their address on your behalf. The best part is that you save postage!
  • If you must hand-write a check, stop placing your checks in your mailbox for the mail carrier to pickup and start placing your bills in a USPS mailbox.
  • Write your checks with wash-proof ink.

Six Flags Elite Park Pass

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

How much are you willing to pay for your thrills? As you know, standing in hour-long lines, withstanding the heat and dealing grouchy people is enough to keep families from going to amusement parks. Thrill seekers can now pay nearly four times the regular ticket price to be treated as the park’s VIP. You are escorted to the front of the lines when waiting to board a ride. You have your very own concierge to escort you around the park and you get your own private up-close parking space. Whether it’s worth it or not, is a decision you have to make. I just don’t recommend getting on the free fall ride if you value your legs.
