Prayers for Dad

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

If you have some time tonight and tomorrow, please say a few prayers for Dad. He is having triple by-pass surgery tomorrow around Noon at Wake Med Heart Center. He is expected to be in surgery for about 4-6 hours. We will not be able to see him until around 8 or 9ish due to the recovery time. As of tonight, he was doing fine, just somewhat nervous as should be expected. Tomorrow our family will be on the 2nd floor waiting room (the only waiting room on that floor) which is accessible from the A & B elevators. Any prayers and/or visits are appreciated greatly.

Isaiah 40

Friday, April 15th, 2005

I must admit I was having a hard time earlier this morning with everything I have been through lately, so I just started praying and asking God to comfort me in some way. I wasn’t sure how He was going to do it and why He should. Well, I was getting ready for bed and it’s sad to say, I was folding up some clothes and I glanced on my dresser and saw my Bible laying there which I can’t remember the last time I just sat down and read it. I grabbed it immediately and crawled into bed and just asked the Lord to reveal something to me that would comfort me. I kid you not, the pages fell open to Isaiah 40. The title for the chapter was labeled: “Comfort for God’s People”. I just about fell out of the bed. The entire chapter was great and revealed that He is in control of everything. These verses stood out to me the most (28-31):

“28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. I’ve always heard about God speaking to people and giving them comfort during tough times, so now I can truly say that He does offer comfort for those who seek it.

Finale for Sputnik!

Thursday, August 19th, 2004

Well this is definitely a win for the music department of our church and a much needed one at that. We have finally gotten the ‘go-ahead’ to purchase a brand new sound system for the sanctuary! This is very exciting news and a major hurdle that has been overcome. This all means that our beloved sputnik speaker will be making its final landing, hopefully in a landfill near you. I guess we can all thank God in a mysterious way for sending lightning!
