Bryce Canyon National Park Scenic Drive

Coordinates: 37°37′42″N 112°10′04″W – Bryce Canyon National Park is another awesome stop in southwestern Utah. The park isn’t your typical canyon, but more of several amphitheaters caused by erosion which make the bright orange topography provide spectacular views for park visitors. The colors are so vibrant even a cheap camera will make your pictures look like a postcard. Most park visitors prefer to take the scenic drive around the park which has 13 vistas giving you extraordinary views without even hiking a trail.

If you have time, don’t limit yourself to the scenic drive around the park. There are several hiking trails that will actually take you down into the amphitheaters which can give you an awesome perspective of their size. Horse back riding is also available in the park. Be sure to pick your visitation dates wisely because the weather can vary if you plan on hiking.

For stargazers this place rocks. The skies over Bryce Canyon have over a 7.0 magnitude sky which is one of the darkest in North America allowing you to see nearly 7500 stars. Most other places you could only see around 2000 stars. If you’re interested in astronomy, the park hosts the Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival every year in June.

If you like hiking or just a scenic drive, Bryce Canyon has a lot to offer with amazing scenery. It’s a definite “must see” if you are in the Utah area.
