If you’ve never hiked across a sandbar this is definitely a cool treat. Bar Island is connected intermittently via a natural land bridge at low tide to Mount Desert Island. Bar Island is still considered part of Acadia National Park though it is located in Bar Harbor, Maine. You can find the entrance just north of the town pier in Bar Harbor. If you plan on hiking on Bar Island, make sure you check your low tide times to ensure save passage on the way back.
